Hi my name is Jess. I am a Registered Midwife living in Australia. I am from Ireland, and completed my midwifery training at Trinity College, and at the Rotunda Hospital, both in Dublin. During my training, I completed a placement with a group of homebirth midwives in Canada, which opened my eyes to midwifery in different cultures.
Having caught the travel bug at a young age, I had always wanted to pursue working abroad. So after a few years of working in Ireland, I packed up my bags and came to Australia. Since arriving here I have worked in a variety of places; from large tertiary hospitals, to remote outback towns. I have worked in Melbourne, Charleville, Griffith and Thursday Island, in both midwifery group pratice models and also as a core midwife. I also took some time away to travel solo in South America in 2019, and was very lucky to live and work with indigenous Kichwa midwives in the Amazon. I learnt all about their traditional birthing practices and plant medicines.
As a HypnoBirthing Practitioner, I have a keen interest in education, and preparing women to have the best understanding of birth and the postpartum period. I am very passionate about breastfeeding, and also practise as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I also completed The Newborn Mothers Collective course which has given me further insight into the needs of new mothers.
I offer both group and private classes. Please enquire about class availability if you do not see dates that suit you.
