25 Weeks Pregnant
At almost 6 months in, thoughts may be starting to turn to the birth of your baby. Your baby is around 660g, 34.6cm and the size of a cauliflower.
Baby’s Development
Baby’s body is straightening more, as the spine continues to develop and strengthen. They can grab and hold their feet, hands and even umbilical cord as their muscles becomes stronger and they become more co-ordinated.
Baby can now tell which way is up and down as their sense of equilibrium develops.
What’s Happening For You
- As your uterus continues to grow about 1cm per week, you may notice a difference in your digestion, as the growing uterus pushes up on your stomach and intestines.
- You may begin to feel breathless at times, and this is also due to your growing baby and uterus.
Things To Consider
- Try and exercise as much as you can comfortably, making sure to not overheat or hold your breath. Walking, yoga and swimming are great activities to build strength and stamina whilst being gentle to your body and baby – your heart is already working 50% more in everyday life now you’re pregnant. Always listen to what your body is telling you. Women who stay strong and fit are more capable of staying calm and focused during labour. Labour requires deep relaxation and surrender, but it also requires physical stamina and resilience. These important qualities can be cultivated through physical and mental exercise.
Consider adding meditation to your birth preparation as well as working on your physical self – the mind also needs strength and determination!! Exercise can also help lift spirits and increase general wellbeing. This is especially true if you exercise outside and get to enjoy nature too.
