37 Weeks Pregnant
Now is the time to slow down and rest as much as possible. Your baby is around 2859g, 48.6cm long and the size of a durian.
Baby’s Development
Baby is practicing some new skills: inhaling, exhaling, sucking, gripping, and blinking. Baby is also busy getting the first poo (called meconium) ready for their nappy when they are born! Baby is still growing at this stage and putting on weight.
What’s Happening For You
- All sorts of things may be happening for you now. Some women get more heartburn, some spotting as the cervix prepares and more abdominal pressure.
- The uterine seal will come away in the last few weeks of labour, the day before labour or sometimes during.
- Sometimes stretch marks can appear in these last few weeks as your belly does it’s final stretch to accommodate baby.
- Make sure you are familiar with the signs of labour. Check them out HERE.
- You may want to touch base with your HypnoBirthing Educator for any last tips and some words of encouragement.
Things To Consider
- Being on maternity leave may seem like a good opportunity to catch up with lots of people, go shopping and get out and about but now is the time to be relaxing.
- Your body has achieved something incredible with this pregnancy but there is still the birth to experience. You wouldn’t go for a bike ride all day just before starting a marathon! Get your feet up and nurture yourself at this special time.
